Took off for High Uinta’s of Utah. Old pioneer logging and Native American territory…even bandits once roamed mountains. GPS hiked straight through boonies trying to find hidden beaver dams. No trails. Miles from civilization of any kind. Started walking obvious game path down remote canyon. Saw first of dams at canyon’s head. Walked another hundred yards and something about rocks caught my eye. Formation was at right angles and stones appeared placed by man a LOOOONG time ago. Very eerie back in there. Natives? Pioneers? Bandits? Who done did it? Who knows? Cannot tell age. Cannot figure why it was built because rather steep side hill. Got latitude and longitude from GPS, took pictures, looked up archaeologists around Utah, mailed information with pictures to maybe ten different professors and State of Utah. Not a single person responded. Nice...especially when wilderness instructions TELL US to report such finds. Any ideas out there? Day hikes can be very cool…but mysterious.
